The job

A young lady, who has suffered a severe traumatic brain injury is looking for a Support Worker to support her with her personal care, morning routine and getting out and about. 

Once you get to know her, you will find she is fun loving with a good sense of humour and a cheeky nature. It can take a little while for her to build trust, so can be shy at first but once you get to know her, people say that she is very likeable and really enjoy supporting her. She enjoys lots of the things that people of her age enjoy such as social media, music, shopping, garden centre visits and going out for meals. She likes cats and there are three in her home. 

The right person

The right attitude and an understanding of the issues that people face who have an acquired brain injury is also important. Experience of moving and handling would be advantageous.

The right person would be an excellent communicator and have a proven ability to build positive relationships with the person they are supporting. 

It would be advantage if you are able to drive and have a car available for work purposes.

The hours

30 hours per week split between 2 workers, some of these hours are to be worked flexibly by negotiation but the following core hours will be required:

Term time:

7.00am – 8.30am Monday to Friday (this will be later in the school holidays)

3pm – 4pm Monday to Thursday and  2.30pm – 3.30pm on a Friday(this may be different in the school holidays)

Some early evening hours are required, which will finish no later than 6.30pm, Monday to Friday

Some Saturdays by negotiation to attend social activities. 

The rates of pay and benefits

£8.91 Monday – Saturday

£9.22 Bank Holidays

You will receive paid holidays and the opportunity for training relevant to your role.

Successful applicants must be eligible to work in the UK. This post is subject to DBS checks the cost of which will be met by your employer.
