A 38-year-old gentleman is looking for support in his own home and in the community. He has learning disabilities and physical disabilities and uses a wheelchair. The gentleman is registered blind and is non-verbal but he can communicate in his own ways.
Support tasks will include personal care, transfers, food preparation, assistance with eating and drinking, administering medication, accessing the community socially and to get to appointments and support with therapeutic activities such as hydrotherapy, swimming and rebound.
You will work alongside another Personal Assistant to provide 2:1 support.
The right person
You don’t need to have experience! It would be great if you have already worked in a similar role previously, however, we will accept applications from anyone who is willing to learn and can apply skills they have gained in other areas.
You will need to be comfortable around dogs and be happy to support the gentleman with water-based activities.
17.5 hours per week as follows:
Monday to Sunday – 30 minutes in the evening between 8.30 pm and 9.30 pm
Monday, Wednesday and Friday – 8.30 am to 11.30 am (days may change occasionally so flexibility will be needed)
Saturday – 11.00am to 4.00pm
We are looking for candidates who work well as part of a team and can pick up additional hours if required. You must be flexible and able to cover holidays and times of sickness for other Personal Assistants in your team.
The rates of pay and benefits
£8.72 Monday to Saturday. £9.22 Sunday & Bank Holidays
You will receive paid holidays and training relevant to your role. Successful applicants must be eligible to work in the UK. This post is subject to DBS checks the cost of which will be met by your employer.
