By providing proactive support at the right time, Personal Assistants help people to live a  fulfilling and independent life at home and in the wider community despite their support needs.

The job

To provide support to a young man with autism and mental health needs and his family. Initially, to visit the family home once a week and spend time building a positive relationship with this young man. 

This young man of 15 is very bright but has many challenges due to autism and mental health needs, including anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorder. He is currently at home full time after a failed residential school placement, which was very traumatic for him. 

The right person

We are looking for a friendly, experienced and patient person who will be prepared to work slowly and steadily to build up a positive relationship with him, progressing to spending time together at home doing activities he enjoys. A parent will be at home at all times, but the aim is to give them time to do household chores or spend time with his sister.

  • Experience supporting people with autism or mental health needs 
  • Experience working with young people, especially with additional needs 
  • A patient, friendly approach 
  • Clean DBS check
  • Teaching, youth work or related experience 

The Hours

4 hours a week 

Rates of pay and benefits

£8.91 per hour and up to £5 expenses

Successful applicants must be eligible to work in the UK.  This post is subject to DBS checks the cost of which will be met by your employer.
